Cabernet Franc

Blend: 100% Cabernet Franc

Analysis:

Alcohol: 14.5 %

Bottling Date: May 2008

Tasting Notes:

The aroma of this wine shows a rich expression of ripe, dark fruit which are characteristic of the almost perfect growing conditions of the 2006 season.  These dark black fruits steamroll through onto a palate showing exceptional length, richness and beautiful balance. Layers of fine-grained tannins reign in the finish and provide a powerful core that will carry this wine for years.

Wine Making:

The 2006 vintage was indeed one of the best vintages in the Okanagan. Near perfect growing conditions all season long, but especially in September and October, the key ripening months, gave wines with incredible richness and tannin structure.

The grapes for this wine were harvested on the 4th of November, 2006 from the Burrowing Owl estate vineyards.  The grapes were de-stemmed, crushed, and inoculated with our preferred yeast strains. The wine was allowed to remain on skins for an average of 20 days prior to pressing off. The wine was aged in oak barrels (25% new, mainly French) with periodic rackings. Bottled unfiltered and unfined on May 1st, 2008.
