A wedding celebration at Burrowing Owl Estate Winery is a truly memorable occasion for those looking for a superb location, an exceptional dining experience and quality time with friends and family.

Our team will be pleased to coordinate your special day during the quieter times of year which fall after Thanksgiving and before May 1st.  Your ceremony can be held outdoors on the pool patio, weather permitting, or indoors overlooking the vineyard. Email for more information and available dates.

The Sonora Room restaurant can seat up to 70 guests and the Executive Chef will be pleased to design a menu specifically for you and your guests.  There is a minimum expenditure for food and beverage needs, which is easily met with a 3-course banquet with wine.

The Guest House and Sonora Room restaurant will ensure that your stay at Burrowing Owl Estate Winery is relaxing, with impeccable service and careful attention to all details.  You will reserve and have the full use of the entire Guest House, including 10 Guest Rooms (9 with king bed and one with 2 double beds) and a luxurious 2-bedroom penthouse.  The ‘no-children’ policy is waived when a group books the entire Guest House.  Special arrangements can be made for small groups, not requiring a full buy-out.

A delicious wine country breakfast is included for all your in-house guests each morning, and the Wine Shop Manager can arrange a wine tasting and tour of the facilities for you and your guests if requested. 

The Guest House will supply a list of (or can coordinate) local services – from flowers to photographers and can recommend local accommodation for your guests who will be staying elsewhere.

Because weddings are held during the shoulder season, you are assured of a reasonable amount of privacy;  the room rates and venue rates are reduced at these times of year and can be found here.

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions about Weddings at Burrowing Owl Estate Winery

Guest House Accommodation

A full Guest House buy-out is required if you wish to have exclusive use of the Sonora Room Restaurant.  Please see the winery web site for a virtual tour, for the room rates and for a description of the rooms and amenities.   Overnight guest accommodation includes a delicious wine country buffet breakfast.  All other food and beverage requirements can be provided by the on-site restaurant.  Recommendations for local overflow accommodations are available from the winery.

If you have a small number of guests and wish to have a ceremony at the winery, special arrangements can be made for an intimate private dinner and you may reserve as many or as few rooms in the Guest House as you wish. Event dates are less restrictive with this option.

Wedding Banquet

The Sonora Room Restaurant will be the venue for your wedding banquet.  This is a beautifully and tastefully appointed room with a full bar facility.  The Executive Chef will offer you a selection of menus to chose from to meet your wishes and your budget.  You may choose any number of courses and your cake can be made in-house or you may bring your own, subject to a plating fee.  Prior to this consultation, you may wish to look at the current menus described on the web site at https://www.burrowingowlwine.ca/the-restaurant/the-menu/  A three-course banquet with wine pairing, will be approximately $100 per person. 

The chef will offer choices to accommodate the dietary requirements of your guests and most courses will have at least 2 options for your guests to choose from.

Wine and Bar Service

A complete selection of wines from the Burrowing Owl cellar will be available to you, except for sparkling wine which can be your own choice.  Cocktails and after-dinner drinks can be served from the full-service bar, according to your instructions. 

Celebratory Reception

The Restaurant will be pleased to offer a catered reception after your ceremony, with hors d’oeuvres, sparkling wine service, full bar service etc.  This can be held in any of the venues on the property.

Decorations

Modest decorations that don’t involve attaching any kind of material to walls are acceptable.  The staff will assist with the placement of your choice of special table linens, flower arrangements, table centre pieces etc., should you wish. 

After Dinner Dancing

Depending on the number of guests you have, there may be limited space that can be set aside after dinner in the restaurant for a DJ and dancing.  An alternate option is to erect a tent on the adjoining patio, which will provide a separate but easily accessible area for music and dancing. 

Planning

You may avail yourself of the services of the very experienced in-house wedding planner, to help with the planning of your event, and to work with winery staff and local providers to coordinate the many details throughout your entire stay.  There is a fee for this service and the on-site details of your event will be coordinated from start to finish.  You may also use your own wedding planner.  Some wedding parties want a simple ceremony and dinner without the need for planning and coordination and the staff are always happy to leave you and your family and guests to enjoy quality time in a relaxed setting without interference. 

Ceremony Venues

Depending on the weather and the number of guests there are a several choices of venue:

  • the pool patio adjoining the Guest House (up to 70 people)
  • the Guest House Lounge (up to 35 people)
  • the small gazebo in the vineyard (18-20 people standing)
  • Wyse Hall, a multi-function room, with scenic vistas from all windows and state-of-the-art multi-media equipment.

Local Services

The in-house planner will take care of any of these needs or will be pleased to send you a list of local suppliers for transportation, accommodation, marriage commissioner, flowers, event rentals, DJ’s, musicians, hair and esthtetics, wine touring, photography, etc.
